Your AIOVOX Is Not Broken

Over the last few years, we’ve had a small handful of people contact us saying their AIOVOX is leaking where the two pieces screw together. The first thing many people think is, “My AIOVOX is defective. I need a replacement.”

The good news is this: your AIOVOX is probably not broken. In almost every case, the issue comes down to the O-ring.

Inside your AIOVOX is a white plastic O-ring that creates a seal between the two sections of the unit. Like any seal, it can wear over time. Repeatedly screwing the top on and off can eventually cause the O-ring to shift, twist, flatten, or develop a crease. 

Before you assume the worst, take a moment to inspect it. Many times, the O-ring simply isn’t seated correctly. Using your finger or a small flathead screwdriver, gently run around the edge of the ring to make sure it is sitting evenly in its groove. You’d be surprised how often this solves the problem in less than a minute.

If you notice an area that looks thinner than the rest, has a visible crease, or appears worn, then it’s likely time for a replacement. Fortunately, this is an inexpensive and easy fix. Similar O-rings can typically be found at your local hardware store, including Lowe’s.

Again, this is not an AIOVOX issue. It’s simply normal wear and tear on a component that is designed to create a watertight seal. If you’re ever unsure, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m always happy to help troubleshoot the issue before you spend money replacing anything.

Now Let’s Talk About Dropping Your Bottle

While we’re on the subject, let’s discuss something else I’ve heard over the years.

“Jaime, my bottle cracked!”

Look, I love our colored bottles. They’re durable, they look great, and they’re built to last. But they’re not made out of titanium. If your bottle slips out of your hand and hits the floor just right, there’s a chance it can crack. That’s not a DoctorVox problem. That’s gravity doing what gravity does.

Trust me, I’ve done it myself. I’ve dropped my bottles more times than I can count, and nine times out of ten, they’re perfectly fine. However, I vividly remember sitting in a chair one day with a blue Vox in my hand. For reasons I still don’t understand, I simply let go. It couldn’t have fallen more than two feet. I remember thinking, “No problem.” Then I picked it up and discovered a crack running down the side.

Sometimes all it takes is the perfect angle and the wrong landing.The good news is that replacement bottles won’t cost you an arm and a leg. We’d much rather help you get back to training than have you stress over an accident.

Final Thought

The Vox was designed to be a practical, everyday vocal training tool. Like anything you use regularly, it requires a little maintenance and a little common sense.
